In the Imbali (History) section, the original page text had a passage about Mahatma Gandhi's June 1893 experience of racial discrimination on a train, after which he stopped at the city's railway station. Note the following:

  • "Shivering through the winter night in the waiting room of the Pietermaritzburg Railway Station, Gandhi made the momentous decision to stay on in South Africa... "
    • Per Google search, this wording ("shivering through the winter night...") appears in many other sources, one evidently having been repeatedly copied and reused.
    • This picturesque wording is unsuitable for an encyclopedia article.
  • The material about Gandhi stopping at the railway station is better added under a subheading, in factual terms, and ending with the statue in the city center. Otherwise it isn't about the topic of this page: the city itself.

The entire page needs to be written in Wikipedia encyclopedic style and translated to isiXhosa. -- Deborahjay (talk) 08:49, 7 Eyo Mnga 2018 (UTC)[reply]
